Entries are now being accepted for the 2016 Competition. See the SCBS Competition tab above.  The 2016 Conference location:  our voting indicated about half were interested in the fall conference being held with the Kansas Association of Broadcasters’ annual convention; about half favored a farther south location and a different date than that. We are thus trying a new approach: we will hold the standard 2-day SCBS Conference September 30-October 1 at the Texas Association of Broadcasters’ facilities in Austin.  That conference will feature specially arranged tours, speaker panels and other professional connections for students, along with the competition awards ceremony. ADDITIONALLY, we will hold an awards ceremony connected with the KAB Convention. Students and advisers will be able to attend either our ‘northern meeting’ or out ‘southern meeting.’  Further specifics will be added soon.

SCBS continues its connection to BEA District 5. For 2016, BEA holds a ‘Super Regional’ Fall Conference at the University of South Carolina. BEA District 5 faculty will be encouraged to submit research and creative work for that conference, taking place October 13-15, 2016. However, we will still do a BEA District 5 session and meeting as part of the 2016 SCBS Conference in Austin.

NEW FOR 2015-2016 school year:

We moved from a fall semester to spring semester submission deadline a few years ago.  It’s worked out well.  BUT…often the entries are mostly from the spring semester.  SO NOW, as of the 2015-16 school year, entries will be accepted at the end of the fall semester, then again at the end of the spring semester.  YOU AND YOUR SCHOOL will have to keep track of what you submit in the fall so it’s not resubmitted in the spring, and to keep up with your total school submissions.  Judging will all be done at one time, after submissions are complete in May. Your school will still also have to pay the 2015-16 membership fee; memberships paid that cover the fall 2015 conference will not cover these new fall submissions.
